UruguaySPAN

As one of the southern hemisphere's most under-explored offshore regions, UruguaySPAN provides a qualified regional framework of the Punta del Este Basin located off the coast of Uruguay. With roughly 4,600 km of high-quality, depth-imaged data, the program ties together the Northern Argentine and Southern Brazilian Basins. UruguaySPAN is the first deep, geologically-driven image of the province's petroleum potential.

Program Objectives

  • Image below seaward dipping reflectors
  • Image Moho
  • Image the Punta del Este Graben
  • Image deep rifted basins
  • Predict depth to source rock interval
  • Tie to wells and ArgentineSPAN and BrasilSPAN surveys
  • Identify main sediment input points in deepwater
  • Improve regional seismic velocity control

Key Components

  • Provides a coherent seismic dataset across the Punta del Este Basin and provides a tie to Argentina and Brazil
  • Acquired with a unique setup, including offsets of 10,000 m to 12,000 m, a specially designed source array and record lengths up to 18 seconds
